Saturday, July 13, 2024:

*Kelly gave an update on the venue/caterer/hotel:  The Buckner-Ragsdale Event Center is being renovated and we will have our Saturday night party in the lower level, called “The Cellar.”  On February 12th several of us toured the building during renovation.  The Cellar will be perfect for our venue.  Kelly is working with Top of the Marq and The Southerner to get pricing for heavy appetizers and a cash bar.  The Courtyard by Marriott on Broadway and Fairfield Inn & Suites have blocked off 10 rooms each and provided links for discount group rate reservations.  The Courtyard will be $189/night and the Fairfield will be $149/night.  These rates are good for reservations made through June 14, 2024.  Lizz is going to check with Mid-America hotels and see if we can get a block of rooms at one of their hotels, as well.

Courtyard:   https://www.marriott.com/events/start.mi?id=1708012128509&key=GRP

Fairfield:  https://www.marriott.com/events/start.mi?id=1708013460127&key=GRP

*Lizz & Kelly will work on creating a memorial display for our classmates who have passed.  Laura will send the list of deceased classmates to them.  She also has a large easel that can be used for this project, if needed.

*Kim suggested setting up an organized time for the grade school photos so everyone will know when they are being taken.  She also suggested thinking of ways to get people to mingle more.  Let us know if you have any ideas!

*If you know of any teachers you would like to invite, please do so.  Let them know they will not be charged to attend and there will be a cash bar.

*Laura will create events on Facebook for the Friday and Saturday activities.

Next meeting: Monday, March 18, 2024 at 5:30 pm at Advanced Pest Control, 530 County Road 317, Cape Girardeau, MO. We will also set up a Zoom meeting to begin at 5:45 pm and post the link on this Facebook page.

Planning Meeting #2 Notes – 02/05/2024

Zoom attendees were: Randy Baker, Kim Eaker Brazil and Susan Richards Barnes.

Planning Notes:

Saturday, July 13, 2024:

*Kelly Holloway gave an update on the venue/caterer/hotel:  The Buckner-Ragsdale building is being renovated and we will have our Saturday night gathering (usually starting about 5:30 p.m.) in the lower level, called “The Cellar.”  She is going to schedule a walk-through so some of us can check out the area to decide what kind of decorations we want.  The house caterer is Top of the Marq so Kelly is working with them to get pricing for heavy appetizers and a cash bar.  We discussed appetizers vs. a sit-down dinner and decided appetizers will be less expensive and give us more freedom to mingle with everyone, where a dinner would encourage everyone to sit at specific tables for most of the night.  The Courtyard by Marriott on Broadway is going to reserve a block of rooms to provide a discount for booking.  As soon as those details are available they will be shared here.

Next meeting: Monday, February 26, 2024 at 5:30 at Advanced Pest Control, 530 County Road 317, Cape Girardeau, MO. We will also set up a Zoom meeting and post the link on this Facebook page.
